Reference Ranges Library

A consolidated library of species-specific reference intervals for Migibio FICT assays. Values are representative adult reference ranges; individual labs should verify against their own population and follow the package insert (IFU) for each assay.

1. Canine Reference Ranges

Analyte Category Reference Range Unit
CRP Inflammation < 10 mg/L
SDMA Renal 0–14 µg/dL
Creatinine Renal 0.5–1.8 mg/dL
NT-proBNP Cardiac < 900 pmol/L
T4 (Total) Thyroid 1.0–4.0 µg/dL
TSH Thyroid 0–0.6 ng/mL
Cortisol (basal) Adrenal 2–6 µg/dL
Progesterone Reproductive 0–2 (anestrus) ng/mL

2. Feline Reference Ranges

Analyte Category Reference Range Unit
SAA Inflammation < 5 µg/mL
SDMA Renal 0–14 µg/dL
Creatinine Renal 0.8–2.4 mg/dL
NT-proBNP Cardiac < 100 pmol/L
T4 (Total) Thyroid 1.0–4.0 µg/dL
fPL (pancreatic lipase) Pancreatic < 3.5 µg/L

3. Notes on Interpretation

  • Reference ranges are population statistics, not absolute thresholds. Values near the boundary warrant clinical correlation.
  • Breed, age, and sex can shift normal ranges (e.g., sighthounds have lower creatinine/T4).
  • Pre-analytical factors (hemolysis, lipemia, fasting status) affect specific analytes — follow IFU specimen requirements.

4. IRIS CKD Staging (SDMA + Creatinine)

IRIS Stage Creatinine (canine) SDMA (canine/feline)
Stage 1 < 1.4 mg/dL < 18 µg/dL
Stage 2 1.4–2.8 mg/dL 18–35 µg/dL
Stage 3 2.9–5.0 mg/dL 36–54 µg/dL
Stage 4 > 5.0 mg/dL > 54 µg/dL

5. FAQ

Are these ranges universal across all analyzers? No. Reference ranges can vary by method and instrument. The values here are for the Migibio FICT platform; verify against your own analyzer and local population.

Why do dogs and cats have different NT-proBNP cutoffs? Cardiac size, physiology, and normal peptide levels differ between species — feline NT-proBNP reference (< 100 pmol/L) is much lower than canine (< 900 pmol/L).

Where do I find the authoritative cutoff for a specific assay? The product IFU is the legally controlling document. This library is a technical reference.

6. Authoritative Sources
